Key Features:
Appearance: The French Black Copper Marans has striking black feathers with a beautiful coppery sheen around the neck and wings. The contrast between the black body and copper-colored hackles gives them a regal and elegant appearance. They have a medium-sized, solid build, with a red comb, wattles, and bright yellow legs.

Egg Production: The most famous feature of the French Black Copper Marans is its ability to lay extremely dark brown eggs, ranging from deep chocolate to mahogany. They lay around 150-200 eggs per year, making them reliable layers, although their egg production is moderate compared to other breeds.
Temperament: Known for their calm, friendly, and docile temperament, French Black Copper Marans are relatively easy to handle and get along well with other chickens. They are not overly aggressive and are generally peaceful, though they can be a bit shy around humans initially.
Hardiness: These chickens are hardy and adaptable, doing well in both hot and cold climates. Their dense feathering makes them suitable for cooler weather, but they are also resilient in warmer conditions if provided with shade and fresh water.
